Matt Gaetz (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Florida’s 1st Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2017. His current term ends on January 3, 2021.

Gaetz is a former Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 4 from April 13, 2010, to 2016.[1] He won a special election in April 2010 that was called after former speaker Ray Sansom resigned in February 2010.

Prior to his time in politics, Gaetz worked as an attorney.

During his tenure in Congress, Gaetz has served as a member of the Budget Committee, the Armed Services Committee, and the Judiciary Committee.
